Our organizing committee reviewed hundreds of quality applications based on leadership, community involvement, entrepreneurship, and creativity. It was a very difficult decision to invite only one hundred participants based on our license limitation per TEDx program guidelines. We were amazed by the passion and excitement from Edmontonians wanting to participate in the live TEDx Edmonton experience!

Everyone is also invited to experience TEDx Edmonton through our free live webcast and to the official TEDx Edmonton After Party hosted by artsScene Edmonton. Both events are open to the public to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to be inspired and take part in the TEDx Edmonton experience in some way! After party tickets are available now!

Thanks again to everyone for your passion, support and enthusiasm for our community and for TEDx Edmonton! We look forward to seeing you on March 13 at the event, online or at the after party!

TEDxEdmonton
“Cultivating the Creative Economy”
Saturday, March 13, 2010
TransAlta Arts Barns

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. We’re working to bring this experience to Edmonton, Alberta, through an event called TEDxEdmonton, where x=independently organized TED event. At TEDxEdmonton, TEDTalks videos and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

TEDxEdmonton will be an incredible opportunity to be inspired by leading creative professionals, technology experts, entrepreneurs and business and cultural leaders from across the city and around the globe, and learn how they are driving the creative economy. Built around the unique TED Talks format, themes will include creative entrepreneurship, creative sustainability and creative technologies. Not only will you hear about innovative programs and projects, but you’ll also gain the tangible tools to make them happen within your organizations, businesses and communities.

In the spirit of a TED conference, we’ll follow a few guidelines: an intimate-sized event (for 100 people), no keynotes, no panel discussions, no Q&A, no podiums, and plenty of time to share your thoughts with other attendees and speakers.
